There is a mandatory parent meeting on Monday, August 6th at 7pm in the Narthex.
Please attend to receive all information for the year as well as the program changes for all programs.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
After much prayer, discussion, and re-evaluation of the Confirmation program, Father Rocco and I have decided to move the Sacrament of Confirmation to the 8th grade. This will be a year of transition, so we ask for your patience.
Those high school students who are already in the Confirmation program (Sophomores) will still have one more year of Confirmation Super Sundays and will be confirmed in May.
Incoming high school freshman and 8th graders will also attend Super Sundays and receive their confirmed in May.
Super Sundays- is Blessed John XXIII’s model for Confirmation preparation. The Confirmondi are required to attend one Super Sunday a month. Super Sundays begin at 2:00pm in the Commons for games, skits, teaching, and small groups. We will end the Super Sunday with Mass at 5:15pm. Mass is MANDATORY and it is the most important part of Super Sunday.
Please note that in November and December, we will replace the Super Sundays with ‘Up Nights’. Confirmondi will meet for Mass at 5:15pm and then meet in the Commons until 8:15pm.
In addition to Super Sundays, small groups will be required to meet once a month, with their leader, on a date and time agreed upon by the entire small group.
The dates for all Super Sundays are listed on the attached card, so please take the appropriate actions to ensure that your teen will be present for ALL of them. If there is a conflict, please make arrangement in advance so your teen is able to attend. Confirmation is a serious step in your teen’s faith journey and should be treated as such.
Service- service is a HUGE part of confirmation! Each Confirmondi is responsible for 15 hours of community service.
Confirmation Retreat- The final requirement is attending the Confirmation retreat in the Spring. This is a mandatory retreat, so please plan around this weekend.
Rite of Confirmation- Teens will celebrate their Rite of Confirmation Mass in May. I will let you know as soon as the Archdiocese announces Blessed John XXIII’s Confirmation date.
Weekly Mass- Parents, please make sure your teen is going to Mass every Sunday. I cannot give your teens the graces and love that they will receive from attending weekly Mass. The teaching and building of your teen’s faith starts in the home, so I ask for your help in getting them to Mass each Sunday.
Sponsors- The role of a Confirmation sponsor is VERY important. You will be walking side by side with your teen in this two year confirmation journey. Teens, please take the time to pray and discern who you choose as a sponsor. To the left is a Confirmation sponsor form, please give this to your sponsor to fill out and return to me along with the other documents on April 15th.
